About the artist

Mark created this Street Art Poetry mural , a process where he integrates poems generated from his 'Street Poetry' process whereby interacting with the public who can request a spontaneous poem on any subject of their choice. The poem is then composed directly onto an old typewriter.

"I try to integrate poetry and visual art in a way that each medium reflects the other in a manner that strengthens the experience of them both".

2015

After studying creative writing in London, Mark published his first book of poems in 2008, 'How Do You Want the Fire to Leave You?'. Since then some of his key literary achievements include participating in the Emerging Writers Festival Melbourne; Format Zine fair as part of the Adelaide Fringe Festival; Australian Poetry Cafe Poet Program; feature Author for Australian Reader; Spoken Word SA poet in residence at Adelaide City Library; feature Artist for Spoken SA poetry slam and has had work published in Rabbit Journal.

In addition, he has combined poetry with a wide range of mediums including illustration, music, performance and mixed media, producing work for two solo and six group exhibitions, as well as delivering numerous Street Poetry performances as part of Splash Adelaide Waymouth Street Parties, Barossa Vintage Festival, the Adelaide Central Market and at Holden Street Theatre during the Adelaide Fringe Festival.

He has created innovative interactive projections which combine film and poetry fused together with an electronic soundscape transforming ordinary windows into captivating visual canvas and auditory experience.

From stints as both creative writing student and professional web designer in London, to Adelaide postal worker and published writer plus untold traveling along the way, his creative energy has been gathered from a wide geography. His work explores the mechanics of human behaviour through works that are conceived with instinct and invention to create a unique combination of poetry, street art and visual art.
