About the artist

Following the Sculptors @ Crystal Lake Symposium 2017, City of Prospect purchased this work made from Sellick's Hill marble. It weighs approximately 3 tonnes, and was part of a broader park upgrade at Ern Sconce Rotary Park in 2017 involving a range of engaging nature play installations.

2017

South Korean-born stone sculptor Jina Lee works from her studio in Fremantle, Western Australia. She completed a Masters of Fine Art majoring in Sculpture (2009) in South Korea and then migrated to Australia in 2013, and has continued to work with a wide range of stone as her primary medium since 2007.

She has exhibited throughout the world, and has installations in Australia, Italy, Albania, Japan, South Korea and New Zealand. Jina's pieces aim to maintain an organic form and natural balance while representing uniqueness. Primarily she employs chiselling and polishing techniques when carving stone, with the purpose of creating a difference in colour and texture.
