Banding Together

Lorry Wedding-Marchioro is a sculptor based in the Adelaide Hills. Her sculptural practice sees her using a variety of materials and techniques from cast glass and bronze to carbon fibre and steel. Lorry's work spans from large public artworks to sculptural installation and kinetic hanging works.

The theory of the Observer effect in quantum physics is a constant underlying inspiration for her work. Questioning the nature of the reality we live in and how we perceive the world around us manifests in playful interactions between elements. Her work endeavours to encourage the viewer to go beyond observing the material and bring attention to the experience of the immaterial, presented as a field of open possibility where the viewer can take from it what they will.

Lorry has exhibited extensively with both solo and numerous group exhibitions. She regularly participates in outdoor events, including The Heysen Sculpture Biennial 2019, 2017 and Palmer Sculpture Biennial, 2018, 2016. In 2018 Lorry was Artist in Residence at the New Royal Adelaide Hospital and was the recipient of the 2015 Limber Up, Guildhouse mentorship.

Public artwork has become a focus in recent years and recent commissions include Banding Together (2019) for the City of Prospect, Being Away (2019) and Zephyr (2018) and Incandescence (2018) for the City of Charles Sturt and Then and Now (2014) for the City of Onkaparinga. Her work has been exhibited in galleries and museums throughout Australia, USA and Asia.
